Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Poland is calling via Broadband
Since the widespread distribution of broadband capability throughout the UK, related services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and TV broadcasting via cable have risen dramatically. That pattern is one that has been repeated all over the globe and the latest European country to be on the edge of such exponential expansion is Poland.
According to a 2007 survey carried out there were over 11.4million internet users in Poland, amounting to almost 29 per cent of the population. Of those a third subscribe to the internet via broadband, amounting to around slightly over nine in every 100 of the Polish population. Despite that figure being far lower than the UK’s broadband subscriber numbers of one in four of the population, it has increased dramatically in recent times, as TV cable companies in the country market complete internet, TV and voice call solutions via broadband.
Whether the current global economic depression will slow that roll-out is yet to be seen, but at the start of 2009, Polish cable TV companies were seeing a dramatic rise in demand for their services as the country continues its assimilation into the EU. Many Polish people returning home from a spell of working in the UK are finding that not only has the average standard of living improved in their absence, but so has access to the latest technology.
No doubt, when broadband and ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is widely rolled-out, many more Polish people will be in a position to use VoIP services to keep in touch with relatives and friends abroad. For example, it will be much easier for expats working in the UK to place cheap calls to Poland via the internet.
Those on the same messenger systems will be able to communicate for free, but even those who don’t have a computer in Poland will be contactable at cheap rates by someone who has the ability to dial directly from their computer; using their VoIP or messenger service.
In addition to making voice calls, text and video chats – another useful feature of many of the VoIP related messenger systems is that computer files can be sent very quickly without the need for signing into an email account. Of course, this option is very useful for anyone wishing to send a letter or information a lot quicker than using the standard method of post.
But, whichever method any Polish people working in the UK may wish to use to keep in touch with family and friends back home or vice versa, the roll-out of broadband in Poland will ensure that it should be a lot easier and certainly far cheaper in future.
